Storybook Village Preschool creates a rich, thoughtfully designed learning environment where young children are supported not only academically but also socially and emotionally. By implementing the Teaching Pyramid framework, the program prioritizes the development of strong relationships, emotional regulation, and positive social skills—foundations that are essential for lifelong learning and well-being. The curriculum is intentionally designed to provide a seamless progression from toddler care through Transitional Kindergarten, ensuring continuity in each child’s learning journey. Drawing inspiration from the Reggio Emilia approach, educators view children as capable, curious, and full of potential. This philosophy is reflected in the environment and daily experiences, where children are encouraged to express themselves, explore their ideas, and engage creatively with the world around them.

Within the mixed-age preschool and TK setting, children benefit from both collaborative and individualized learning experiences. The classroom environment—featuring spaces such as the Great Room, atelier, garden, creek, and outdoor classroom—serves as an extension of the curriculum. Each area is intentionally designed to inspire inquiry, creativity, and hands-on exploration. Small learning groups led by primary teachers ensure that each child receives personalized attention and support, while still being part of a larger, dynamic community.

Teachers and children co-construct the curriculum through an emergent, relationship-based approach. Rather than following a rigid plan, educators observe and respond to the children’s interests, questions, and ideas, allowing meaningful projects to unfold naturally over time. These in-depth explorations foster critical thinking, collaboration, and a deeper understanding of concepts, as children investigate topics that genuinely matter to them.
