Located in Santa Rosa, California, Storybook Village Preschool provides year-round, full-day nurturing care and education for Sonoma County families, serving children 18 months to Pre-k. Storybook gives our community a goal to aspire to, a building to be proud of, and a standard to maintain, including a "place where I belong" to foster a love for learning and develop a deep awareness of themselves and others! Our Reggio-inspired approach includes connectedness to culture, community, and the environment and using the One Hundred Languages for young children to learn, represent, and express their feelings and ideas.
Our early childhood educators teach children about their world, managing feelings, problem-solving, and friendship skills within our Reggio-inspired approach to learning and supportive environment. Storybook Village Preschool is a Partner Implementation Site for the California Collaborative on the Social-Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CA CSEFEL) Teaching Pyramid, the first and only private preschool in Sonoma County. We promote and support healthy development while building positive relationships. Children share many emotions, ideas, and abilities, so we teach young children as strong partners with families through a friendship-driven approach to skill building.
Storybook is about embracing families' cultures and traditions as a mark of respect that tells our young children where they come from matters as much as where they're going. Storybook provides many opportunities to build strong and positive home-school connections. Our goal is to be a place where all children and their families can feel comfortable being themselves within our caring community of learners and are encouraged to dream big by fostering their imagination and creativity every day. We hope each family's support network expands as they become members of our caring preschool community!
Lunch and snacks are served friendship-style, with our teachers joining children at the table to help, role-model, and foster communication and skill development at mealtime. Children are offered tasty food and encouraged to choose what to eat from the nutritious components of the meal. Check out our school menus with recipe link. Mangia! Mangia!
Storybook Village Preschool fosters a love for literacy and learning through shared reading experiences, creating a literacy-rich environment with quality books indoors and outdoors and meaningful conversations. Every moment counts—whether our educators promote self-help skills, support positive transitions, or diapering and caregiving routines, they are in a literacy-learning moment. In addition, the preschoolers build age-appropriate reading skills through the Zoo-phonics Multisensory Language Arts Program. As a result, toddlers and preschoolers master developmentally appropriate literacy and language skills that foster a love for literacy.
